Smartphones are amazing tools for small business owners. You can check your email, keep a up-to-date calendar, get directions to your next business meeting and oh yes, call your clients from anywhere with cell service.
But perhaps the most amazing marketing tool on a smart phone is its camera function. I use my smartphone camera all the time for blog photos, but it can also be used for grabbing live spur-of-the-moment testimonials, capturing video of ideas you have, etc.
Business First wrote a brief article about the 2013 Kentucky Derby in Louisville, KY. The article was about how Andrew Robinson got lucky at Churchill Downs. Not because he bet a lot of money of this year’s winning horse, Orb, but because he happened to be in the right place at the right time to see New England Patriots start quarterback Tom Brady celebrate Orb’s victory.
He captured the video with his smart phone.
That video went viral with hundreds of thousands of views in a very short time, appearing on various TV sports channels like ESPN and even Fox Business News.
The immediate availability, power and control of a smart phone’s camera should never be overlooked. You might be just an hour away from the sensational video that makes your company millions.
